New York Rangers' Marian Gaborik Traded to Blue Jackets

It has been reported by ESPN that New York Rangers’ star right wing Marian Gaborik has been traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Wow, talk about a blockbuster deal. All this on NHL’s trade deadline day.

In the package for Gaborik, the Rangers will get Derik Brassard, Derek Dorsett, John Moore and a sixth-round pick.

Gaborik, who has scored over 40 goals a few times in his career, has struggled with the Rangers scoring only nine goals and 10 assists this season with the team. Still, the Rangers are the worst scoring team in the league this season so letting go of one of their offensive weapons will hurt them.

Gaborik is signed through next season and has a $7.5 million cap hit that he carries, but the Rangers are going to push the cap that’s going to go down next season, giving them some breathing room.
