Rick Nash Given "Maintenance Day", Kreider Recalled

Rick Nash did not participate in practice earlier today because he needed a “maintenance day”. A short time later the New York Rangers announced that Chris Kreider had been recalled just one day after being sent down.

The move to call up Kreider has caused the likes of Larry Brooks to speculate that the maintenance day had something to do with the dirty clean hit Milan Lucic put on Nash. However, everything the Rangers have put out there says Nash is just sick and needing rest.

Now I am even more confused. I did not quiet understand the demotion in the first place and the quick promotion makes it even more puzzling. The only angle in which the move made sense was to get Kreider playing time, and now that won’t be happening. Out of the 3 games the Whale are playing this weekend, he is likely to only play in 1.

Hopefully the Rangers next move will shed some clarity on the situation. Right night I am just perplexed.
