Series tied at 1 after Yanks comeback to win

Just when it looked the Mets were riding high and pulling out a series win against their crosstown rivals, it was not to be. The Yankees, looking dejected and trailing for the better part of the game finally got on the board in the 7th inning in a massive way. Raul Ibanez blasted a game-tying 3-run home run into the right field seats and then just a few batters later pinch-hitter Eric Chavez gave the Yanks a lead which they never relented. Ibanez’s clutch drive put a dagger into the heart of Mets starter, Chris Young who had pitched brilliantly until that point in the contest.

Bombers’ starter, Ivan Nova pitched fairly well throughout but the Mets chipped away runs in the 3rd, 4th, and 6th innings to build a 3-0 lead. Nova finished the game hurling 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 earned runs (3 overall), walking 3, and striking out 7 Mets. Nova kept his cool throughout even after fielding errors by Derek Jeter and Alex Rdoriguez and especially after the Jeter error, not allowing a run.

In what is definitely the most anticipated game of the series, tomorrow night Mets breakout star R.A. Dickey will take the hill against Yankees ace CC Sabathia. Everyone knows the story on Dickey so nothing new needs to be said here on him but it will be a great pitching match-up to watch and a great game to take in. That game will be broadcast on ESPN (TV) at 8 P.M., and WCBS Radio 880 and WFAN Sports Radio 660.
