EWB’s Double Play (A Look at the NY Baseball Teams)

If you did not know this yet, Major League Baseball has begun, and today the New York Yankees (0-0) are beginning their season with a three game series against AL East divisional foe, the Tampa Bay Rays (0-0), in the sunshine state. On the mound it’s going to be Sabathia vs Shields with the first pitch being at 3:10 p.m. EST as the Bronx Bombers once again get going for a deep run into the post season and a chance at another World Series ring.

The other team in the metro area, the New York Mets, began their season yesterday against NL East divisional rival, the Atlanta Braves, in a game they won by the final of 1 to 0, thanks to the five scoreless innings pitched by Johan Santana and the lack luster bats of the opposition.

The series somehow takes a break today, unsure why, and will resume tomorrow for the second of three games being played in Hotatlanta with Dickey going for the Mets and Jurrjens for the Braves. Both weekend games will start at 1:10 p.m. EST.
